Good stuff tonight guys! As sam said, we won a few, lost a few. But that's alright! As long as we're learning from every battle then we can only progress! The guild direction for GVG, I see for the future is top 100 (no BS), while being able to substitute key players in their abscence! That mission means we have a lot of training and development before we can finally reach our target! From the looks of it, we should be able to reach top 500 sometime in the near future and that shall be our short term goal. Our monks, David (Gus), Sam (Chong) and good ol' Stu (Drone) have developed some great combinations. This seeding business is extremely positive! Our last battle, I think we only died....from stray rocks...*cough* Otherwise, no one died from combat! Keep up the good work monks!!! Keep finding more ways to improve! So even stray rocks won't hurt us As Claire (Kira Escae) has discovered on numerous occasions; rangers wreck absolute havoc among other teams! I feel that if we try to work along this tangent with our current set up, we should be able to figure something out to better our ranking. More rangers? More quick shots? Some work definately needed, because that korean ranger team in GVG mauled us like no tomorrow. Moreover, it was very nice to see a return of Vayeate Tyrian! Those lightning bolts really cut our opponents! (especially that damn ranger in the last battle) Keep up the good work Gabe! A note we could improve in the guild battles is a simple sticking together more. As we saw with the Korean team, they stuck together VERY closely (goodness knows how...but they did it!) and we didn't really stand a chance. If I recall correctly, the only thing that was moving were their monks...which I sadly admit was chasing like a headless goose, we just couldn't take them down . Anyway! All in all a positive night! We raised our rank from 956 to 832, so we are showing signs of progress! Keep up the good work guys! And seeya on the battle scene more!

second major update of GVG events covered by Chong Fat the battle field medic ok anothe night of ups and down we tried our tactics but we had koreans.... nothing works against them but apart from that, a few good battles, but no rating gain of over 12, 11 was our best again the key to sucess seems to be an age old formula follow the calls and have 3 monks anyway as we evovle in gvg we learn more nad more tactics area of improvement coordination between monks and also a boost will be more offense but i don't know how anyway i'm just a humble monk healing people in teh heat of the battle reporting from Warrior Isle i'm Chong Fat

ok last run is the first trial of Brian's latest obsession apart from music, the SMITE build this is a great idea for a build and there is a lot of potential, consdiering that it's the official build of Ying and Yang .... if u haven't heard of them then they are one of the temas that keeps the favors or grabbing it back from korea anyway like many things in life, theory needs experiments and experience with teh lack of experience and somewhat rushed enviroment, we won the first one cos the first group can't aoe or find a target that they can kill with 7 monks but we lost a second battle that can properly implement a kill monk strat so we lost all and all it's a good start to a potentially top 100 build for the guild keep working ppl (and i mean everyone so i need to do some work too ) Battlefield Monk Chong Fat P.S. this weekend is PVPX time so log on as much as possible

ok, since im not sleeping tonite, i will make the latest update we have 2 GvG and unluckily we lost both and put us to 1000+
now we really need a specific guild formation (even lower rank guild has better formation than us), seriously, let our guild leader dicide it ;D
i think it will be better if all of us play only 1 or 2 role in PvP, so that we can specialize ourself (im kinda stuck switching from warrior ---> ele ---> monk ---> necro)

One thing that just occurred to me is that a good team is very accustomed to their build. They would utilise most of their skills automatically, but if we're chopping and changing our skills and going into battle before we're used to the new set up, we bumble around getting used to it and not being very effective (even if the build is a good one).
I think if we did a round of tombs before we GvG'd (like a warm-up), we'd have better synergy and be more effective.

very good point from Stu i think we do change our skills set too much esp the more util characters, ie ranger or necro however sometimes it is nescessary for us to change certain skills for pvp so the important thing is again practise...................... and comes down to sticking to 1 desgin so le't sdecide that in teh strategy forum

A good night of GvG'ing. This was our first attempt of Claire's Ranger Build and it went quite well. Our loss was to a team with 2 minion masters and strong healing, which we weren't prepared for at all. Things to work on: We need to decide on a target caller before the match starts, rather than during - and then stick with that caller. We have to trust that that person knows what they're doing. Even if we think we've spotted a better target than the caller has, having several people call means nobody focuses. Successes: Going in with a pre-arranged build is definitely a good idea. Even though it was our first real organised attempt, it seemed much tighter than random pizza. If everyone stays up-to-date with the strat forum, we'll have a much better idea of what we're doing. Keep up the good work everyone.

guess wat after losing twice we went for another one this time another 30 minute epic battle (seems like surviving on guerilla tatic is our major strength nowadays) As stu has coined the term counter-catapulting using out own catapult to kill the other team it works anyway we lost again again we don't have much startegic focus and it was a miracle to surivive and even lead at one stage oh welll i guess such is life depressed battle field monk Chong Fat

In all fairness, we had a disadvantage, we were using a healer henchman, and that's a pretty steep loss right there.
Also one of our losses was to err, rank 4 guild I think? I'm not sure if that one really counts....
Anyway I am no expert on this, but my guess is that , as someone else said, we aren't as well coordinated as we could be with calling targets and assist, a few times we targetted warriors when there were monks nearby...
Oh and hello, I'm new here. I myself need to alter the entire spell set I had in gvg, from what I saw, the enemy mesmer from that high ranked guild, seemed to run mostly enchantment removal with energy drain and diversion, since it seems most teams run heavy enchants, I'd say I performed poorly given the circumstances and will attempt to follow that guy's example.
I was running mostly energy denial but that isn't very useful in gvg it would seem, I'll adapt, not that it matters anyway....

1:1 tonight. The short story is that we ripped through one team without breaking a sweat, then lost to an IWAY team. The shame! We were probably a bit careless in not making sure that we packed enough of a counter to this mindless flavour of the month, but I'm not too worried - we'll probably steamroll it when we've got our heads on straight. Remember the healing seed circle! (N.B. requires healing seed) As you can see here, the large topless barbarians protect the fragile womenfolk. (N.B. Don't worry, Truffles wore his shirt/stackhat in battle. The safety gear was temporarily removed for the aesthetic purposes of the screenshot and to inspire fear in the approaching enemies hearts'.) Seriously though, always listen to the leader's orders and get into a ball formation like this when facing an IWAY team, then throw on an aegis/ward-against-melee combo from an e/mo protector, and IWAY becomes bye-way. I'd like to add that we had overall good work tonight - good leading and commanding, good target focusing, and good fighting. We mostly just didn't prepare properly. And I'd rather we played well, but forgot 1 or 2 skills/counters, than remembered all our skills and played badly.
