Yeah! Thanks for the report sam! I'd really like to reiterate how beautifully everything worked in beating the rank ~450 and ~750 guild.
Where I was standing, everything seemed to work like...clockwork! I would hack, and three seconds later they're sorta dead (...gabe and his captin insaneo spiking!) and I'm left wondering who to kill next >=)
Anyway! It seemed like the monks worked very well too! And the equal man of the match... is a toss up between Luke and Lester.
In the match VS the ~450 guild, I can recall Lester had about 10 bone fiends running around, and their oppo NPC Archers dropped within seconds! I'm not kidding~
And Luke just kept us alive, quote Luke "I like being prot, it keeps me alive longer". And so it did to the rest of us too! Another memorable moment was when I was duking it out with one of their warriors then Shinky simply runs up and drops a ward vs melee....oh the hilarity.
However, honourable mentions MUST go out to Soliloquy (aka Edgar...) and Gabe for their amazing work in keeping the opponent monks more busy than a bever during spring time!
The constant draining from Solil, on multiple targets I must add, and Gabe's brilliant dropping of the opponent squishies really made my day!
Recapping Sam's comments. Back to basics was the best idea in the end. Hopefully we can all learn to use the multifaceted nature of our chosen characters and simply rock some socks when we're out on the real battlefield.
Thanks for everyone's contribution, and a deep sorry for those who missed out. Brandon and Tom (Lothar), we'll come and get ya! You're not forgotten by any means!!
Keep up the good work guys! And thank you agaiN!
..and comeon! A round of applause for Sam who managed to get his report up within five minutes of the conclusion of the GVGs aye?

Tally for tonight's GvG: 2 losses against high-ranked guilds (-3, -7) 2 wins against European guilds (+17, +14) 1 loss vs rank 22 Korean guild (-5)
I dunno, I don't have much insight to offer really! One guild beat us with constant traps, which puts a surprising drain on healing as well as causing a lot of other problems. Attacking the ranger proved tough as they had whirling defense and backup healing. The loss against the 22-ranked guild was due to extremely fast spiking on their part. I believe it was a well-coordinated air + adrenaline axe spike, but it's hard to say amidst all the death. The 2 teams we beat were Europeans... enough said. They had sunshine paladins that self-healed more than anything else, and it wasn't quite enough to save them from catapult death.
Overall I think we did pretty well, considering a lot of us are a bit out of practice. We did have some very good guest performances from Eric Danie and Dragons Lorekeeper too.
One thing I think we should do is ensure we are all familiar with TS/Vent, as it really does help the communication. Even if only half of us have microphones, everybody can hear an all-important "retreat" command from one person over the speakers much more easily than we can see the text. It also helps me to play captain planet excerpts while we wait for a gvg to start. The power is yours.
Also, I still think the do-what-we-do-best is a good philosophy. Being accustomed to what build we're using helps a lot in the heat of battle.

After my horrors got told off by teh asp (poor lil puppies), I tried out cursing (skillz, not naughty language). I was pretty much a retardo, but after giving it a bit of a Poxy twist things got better. I thinks a bit more practise in teh tombs and we should all get used to a few different builds... and I want a deer head.

Yeah, I should add that Tombs does make very good practice, even if you only do it individually (erm like going in with randos instead of a team build - hehe not absolutely alone). It helps ya learn what skillbar you do best with. I still think the biggest challenge in tombs is the surviving the endless purgatorial lobby of LFG though.

I maintain that rank 22 is still hella high! and they were koreans!
Defeated yes, but far from demoralising; we not only did we last very well against the rank 2 team, but we also picked up on some strats: ranger trapping, air spiking and 2 new mates in Dragons and Eric... so all and all, good work ppl
Poxy> I further maintain that i am actually doing very little work, and proud of it

Wow! Another giant night for Malice! With four GVGs run, and one angry father , we managed a perfectly balanced night in terms of rating! Winning against two very generous European guilds, giving us +22, and then losing vs two Koreans...offsetting our gains for the night. Ranking and rating aside, we managed to really fight uphill battles against our arch-racial rivals the dreaded koreans! Discussing the wins would be close to bragging about how we beat up the high school nerd, but good work regardless! The first loss for the night... -5 vs rank 20 Korean Guild. They ran a rather ecclectic build, like us, utilising two warriors and an assortment of rangers and necros and monks. Simply put, it seems we were outclassed. They flawlessed us and that was it, points to remember was simply sticking together and well...I don't know really The second, bigger and damaging, defeat was to the hands of a rank 700 Korean guild. AND BOY did they put up a good fight...or...we did...uhh... Another epic 35 minute battle with all the NPCs charging out and the gates opening like St Kilda road on a good saturday night, we lost it because.... *thinks...me warrior, doesn't happen often...* I don't know.... We were on top for the first 20 odd minutes, they had significant DP and we had them mostly figured out. Our flag run was sensational and the majority of us had +10% morale boost!. However, Claire had to run to bed due to a extremely angry father, and my personal bad judgement in regards to time... OH!! That's right, because we ended up on the backfoot, we resorted to guerilla tactics. The degree of success was quite impressive (I think), Freddie (guest) counter-pulted several of them, and I think a large number of their Archers and NPCs fell due to Jecht and Freddie's efforts. What we could have done better.... Honestly, 8 players...? Otherwise if anyone can add to that, feel free~ - Signing out, your local brainless warrior Roarbeast Zug Zug

Yeah, last night's GvG was quite fun... i dun really remember the first loss we had, cept that it was a quick and painless death... The second loss against the 700 ranked koreans was great fun and, well like brian said, the turning point was when we first decided to send a guerilla team and then whilst we did that, claire left... before then, we were quite comforatble keeping them at bay, 7v8, albeit we weren't killing them much... Some points of note: At one stage, brian said that they had got their spiking together and we're very effective... in actual fact, the spiking was only effective when Jecht was dead , or guerilla-ing.. which lends to the usefulness of having a mesmer.. (when a spike ele takes twice as long to cast due to migraine, it's no longer a spike now is it ) When, we hit the 29 or 29:30 minute mark, the flag runner (or anyone else really) could man the cata and hopefully take out some of the opposing NPCs... I like vent and MICs... we had great co-ordination in the team... luke does a kick-ass darth vader impression... 'JOIN US OR DIE' Great work for those who were there! I know we haven't really covered the wins much, but we gotta remember to celebrate ftw!! you'd think, with the way we carry on on this forum, that we are losing rank... but no, we are almost sub 400, woot! Fantastic job all you GvGers!

Great night - 3 wins, 0 losses, and that's with several guildies having their first GvG. First match: We got matched up against some relative noobs (using some henchies), but it gave us a good warmup. 2nd match: The main one, this match was against the Trans Tasman Alliance, another australian guild with a 300 something rank. We haven't gotten that high rank before, and they were obviously organised. They capped the flag first - then we took it, and held the centre. Young Patches filled the flag area with wards against elements and wards against foes, slowing their warriors to a crawl and saving us some damage from their water elementalists. Chun took on the role of flag runner and basically had us in +10% morale the whole time... as well as covering our conditions with martyr and helping to lightning spike... I never knew the man could multitask, but there you have it. Edgar had them covered in hexes, and as a healer I could tell the enemy's damage was hindered pretty much the whole match. Sam, Gus and I were covering the monking, in much the same fashion as always, but triple aegis was working pretty cool (especially since young Patches was not old enough for his Ward Against Melee license...) But perhaps the true glory goes to our spiking... Brian led the charge as always, calling targets and counting down for the evisceration as per the evil kya strat. Edger shattered enchantments, Brian eviscerated, and wee young Patches threw in obsidian flames... and then, shining on the horizon was Pat with his abominable snowman pre-made warrior... unable to hear us, without Ventrilo... new to the GvG battlefield... and destroying all in his path! After we had taken the lead early with a steady stream of rape along these lines, the Trans Tasman alliance nonetheless gathered themselves up and reorganised. We had a brief moment of death for a second there, where a sudden water area-of-effect bombardment, combined with their warriors, managed to take down several of us at once. But their water elementalists didn't have much time to rejoice... because we res'd up and from then on we were water-tight!!! <audience groans> Then as a 3rd match we steamrolled some lev 9 russians

Young Patches got his Ward Agains Melee badge by the end of the night, but was still left baffled by the lvl 9 Russians.

Yeah, last night's gvg was great... though the kya build was not trully tested, given the noobness of opponent for the first and third battles...
However, i'll comment that i found the wards extremely effective, it was a real benefit to be able to run the flag without having to run back over the corpses of my comrades to cap the ring of regeneration +2? (whoa, channeling Warcraft 3, lol) soz, what i meant was since we were all alive flag running was a breeze... Good job healers and a pat on the back to young patches for his ward work...
One more thing, in regards to the spike, is there a way of Brian calling/switching the target at about 2 in the countdown... cos lightning orb has a 2 sec cast, and i'm sure obsidian flame does too, which would allow a more focussed spike just after 1... there were a few instances in the TTA battle, where the monks picked up on the spike target before we finished the spike/kill... just a timing thing to work on tho... otherwise, great job!
kudos to everyone involved last night

Well it's already summed up in a nice neat package! Good job guys and keep it up! I'll be working on my 3 2 1s because supposedly you're meant to change the called target, twiddle your fingers, THEN count 3 2 1...
Anyway! Great stuff last night! And much encouragement be unto Pat who's only played for two days or so. Keep up the good work and keep thumpin 'em!

Alright! Wow...where to start in GVG updating... Lets see, three days ago, we were rank 500+... After losing to two Korean guilds, we dropped to 550 - 600 or so. Ouch that hurt. I can't even remember what happened that night, but an hour or so later. We were rank 400 with about 5 wins under our belt! The usuals were there, with the addition of Matt (Mythist) and Bill (Queen of the Dark)! Performing outstandingly, they were quickly recalled for the second round, occuring last night. Last night started with flying colours! Rank 6000, rank 5000, rank 2000 WOW! We were on a ball wtih henchie killing! Our mexicano friend (who will never see this message so we might as well take advantage of it) calling the spikes, with matt, who half the time was still too busy listening to our Ghostly Hero friend telling him which base was ours , were sensational in dropping the opponents! My little ranger who was using Brandon's ingenius strategy, consisting of /dance and/roar, gained much faction after the calling of '1'. Jecht adding the much needed earth quaking and the wards which kept our stunning monks alive! All was going fine! Good ol' Sam had to leave, then we went for about 5 more? They promoted little zug zug from the running job to heal monk. Debuting as the runner in the Guild Malice GVG Kagai successfully added a much needed lightning orb in finishing the....europeans! Not to mention guarding our flag valiantly! It was too much to hold bacK! The experience was far too great for the young Kagai and he HAD to join the guild! Undoubtedly, another merger may occur as we also engulf Kagai's friend and the Glenny High guild! All in all, our Guild Rating has increased from ~1100 to the current 1202! Consequently the rank has skyrocketed from 500+ to 285!! Very impressive work guys! The Kya spike is working ridiculously well, so keep it up! Guild Malice since last update: Losses: 2 Wins: 14...consecutively GAMBATE!

phwoar! international guild warring! The losses were against a rank 1000 guild who had the fire guild hall, it was a complete WTF match for us... Just bad co-ordination and a lot of hexes killed us. The other loss was vs a rank 600 korean guild who well....we assumed they smurfed us because they had hardcore guests, sorta like what we did with Asp, Jecht and Play Hard But yeah, the wins, one was against a rank 5000+ again, that gave us 7, and then another 700 or something, which took 30 odd minutes. The rank 700 earth ele really bugged the ()&*%)(! thru us because Pat and I were rendered mostly ineffective, and dropping him was harder than ever. But yeah, all in all a pretty good night, we need to build up some of the players, but I see lots of positive potential! So yeah! Keep it up guys Although we had a net loss last night, we're all learning to improve to keep your heads up!

OK, so it seems the Guild scribe has been too busy to report on teh last GvG matches, so here i am. 3 matches, three wins, one catapult accident We had 3 diff maps: one where the flag runner has to run through lava... one where he runs across ice... and the usual one. I think we all played really well, wiped the floor with the first group that had henchies... second team was also henchies, but um, there was an incident with windbourne speed and a stray catapult, which stopped us from going flawless... The third match was the impressive one, with us matched up against a rank 100-odd guild... we killed them good and they rage quit, stoopid noobs all up, i think we gained like 26 rank from that night anyway, great job again guys!
