How does everyone feel about the Guild's current state of size and activity?
I think we're currently a small but friendly guild and that things are running along quite well; however, things can and do change over time. As Brian has recently said, real life gets in the way and since GW is just a game, people are bound to get less active here and there. It'd be sad to see the guild get smaller/less active over time as a result! As good as it is to have a small group of tight-knit people, that small group won't be on at the same time very much.
It makes sense that we should recruit people. More players means we get to GvG more, mission more, and that there'll just be more people to hang out and talk to most of the time. But we should decide how exactly we want to handle recruitment.
I don't think we need a "large" guild - most of us don't need to be uberleet 100+ members constantly pwning the Hall of heroes or anything like that. But getting an influx of a few new people every now and then, to replace those who've moved on, as well as to grow, is a good idea.
Finding GW players who reside in Australia or NZ seems like a good start, because then all our members are in a similar time zone. Though, it's not a necessity - good friendly players from anywhere should be welcome.
So, the question remains: how do we find good friendly players? There are a few GW forums that support guild-recruitment posts, so we could try putting the word out there. We can decide to just get new members to maintain a general level of size and activity, and replace players who've moved on, or, we can expand in size and activity. What do you all think?

i think on 1 hand ti's good to expandbut i'm still skeptical of how many new players that's of quality that we can attract maybe it's a little cynical considering i see a huge band of bad players lately but i'm just not sure how we can find good players right now and also i think with all the officers with teh exception of gabe have been caught up with mroe or less real world stuff if we do find new players with view to do more GVG then 1. we need go plaeyrs with a range of high lvl skill equiped characters 2. enough active officers to monitor the situation 3. officers that are commited and responsible
cos if these conditions can't be met there is no incremental value in recruiting more ppl hmm sounds sour about gw atm but hta'ts how i feel lately feel free to flame my comments

oh dudei don't mean to shot ur idea downn i just can't see that many good players that are constantly asking to join a guild and frankly i dont' htthink everyone have as much time to make this guild constantly have gvgs to recruite nuff good players but when we get higher in the ladder......

People should be put through a vigorous set tests and trials... like find the golden monkey idol or writting a haiku. I am intrigued by Brians new recruitment strat. The guild plebs are wondering what the upper/middle-management are up to with their crazy corporate schemes. I'm hoping to see more GvG and Tombs in the not so distance future, although everyone is hecka busy with exams and the like atm. Perhaps we could also have an adopt-the-noob programme, in which we raise and nurture a young sapling from the yester-years of pre-searing or even an internship For just 1 gold a day you will be giving little Jimmy fresh water and an education!

HAHAHA LESTER! Umm....I think stu's not needed as you basically summarised the strategy~ Adopt a noob is basically the idea...well preferably people who are able to GVG and PVP with us But if you're willing to do your $1 a day and raise this young and fresh one! Then by all means, intern and mentor them! Shape them to your heart's delight and make some leetness appear out of the sappling of youth!

Ahh, here I am! Well, Brian and I had a good talk about recruitment a while ago, and I'll try to sum up our thoughts as best I can (though I think Lester is a hard act to follow... and Brian, feel free to correct me if I miss anything)! First and foremost, there are 2 things that we generally want the guild to be: 1. Active, and 2. Easygoing. We'd like to be active in the sense of having regular GvG's and people online. But we don't want everyone to have to quit their jobs/schooling and always have to be available. Because we're easygoing! Just getting more ppl is a better idea than forcing people to be around more. Also, it doesn't matter if we recruit players who aren't perfect. I'd rather GvG a few times a week with average players than GvG once a month with good players. (Ahem, especially since if we GvG a few times a week, we'd get much better). Here's a lil story; when I played Warcraft 3 I got into a clan that was very fun and successful. Its policy was to have a light flow of recruitment most of the time. It wasn't very selective, but that didn't end up causing many problems at all. New recruits who didn't end up liking the clan would usually leave of their own volition; and again, that wasn't a problem or a big disaster... it was just expected that there would be a gradual in/out flow over time, and generally you'd get a good 'core' of players who stayed the whole time. And as other people came and went, it still kept things lively and active. Naturally, Guild Wars is a different game, but it's a good principle to think about. People will always come and go. Why not roll with it! Anyways, in terms of actual recruitment, we can post up our leader/officer names in Recruitment forums, explaining the basic info about our guild, and if people respond and want to join, there's not much we have to lose by trying 'em out. In-Game recruiting is even simpler. If we have a 4v4 with someone who seems reasonably good and friendly, we can add them to the friends list, and later on have them as a Guest for GvG's. And if you come across some friendly people in PvE who seem to know what they're doing, do the same thing! We can just whisper them to ask if they PvP much, and if they don't, we can practice 4v4 before getting them into guild matches. And this is all just friends-list/guesting stuff so far - if they happen to be interested in a clan too, then consider it a bonus and we can recruit them! We don't need to know their social security number or credit record. There aren't many other things to worry about - in my experience, if people don't like a clan they've joined, they usually leave without kicking up a fuss. And if someone is really terrible, then we can just boot them if we really have to. But I don't think it comes to that very often. Anyways, to sum up, let's aim for a light flow of people into the clan, with an easygoing attitude to people coming and going. It oughta keep things lively and give us some fun battles to look forward to. In the meantime, everyone, please add your thoughts/ideas to this; and don't forget to use that friends list!

With the help of Stu, today we adopted a Noob today by the name a Blood Mystic. A freshfaced young lad, we will send him care packages and for a dollar a day we can rebuild his school and provide fresh drinking water. We'll see how my adopt-a-noob program goes!
A necro as well, he will be my young protege.. or young padawan.
:edit:I mean *Blood Mythic*, I can't even remember the underling's name haha

You too can help young players like Blood Mythic - he lost his home when, in a freak act of Charr magic, his entire nation was razed by giant blazing crystal meteor thingies. Ask yourself how you'd feel if that happened to you, and donate.
:edit: I mean Blood Mythist... omg I couldn't get his name right either

ohhHhh...this is a great day for Malice! We have new members! Good job Lester and Stu! And a big welcome to Blood Mythic! Although Lester may be the scourge of all man-kind and all things sweet and surgary and nice, its nice to see us trying to actively expand the guild...only if I could do similarly.
However, again, keep up the good work and welcome Blood Mythic... Moreover, where are ya located...in terms of the globe?

it hasn't been the same without lester.... death rates have been droping, and no-one can strangle others with pure mind power quite the same meanwhile thank you for the welcome. i can only hope that i turn out to be a good player and incase you are not sure of the name, its Blood Mythist. but don't worry, i had to check on GW myself to see i had it right, and im fairly sure i was probably trying to spell something else when i made my character but was just too tired at the time

Welcome Mythist! In regards to being a good player .. you've just got to look at Lester to see that playing well isn't a hurdle requirement to be a part Guild Malice... just the amount of Malice...
